Elian Stefa is a Tirana based Albanian-Canadian curator, architect, and lecturer. His work focuses on territorial ambiguity, revitalization of abandoned spaces, and self-construction. He is the director of Concrete Mushrooms, a non-profit organization promoting cultural planning and sustainable historical tourism in Albania by raising awareness at a local and international level of the communist territorial legacy in Albania through propagation in the media, site-specific interventions, and research initiatives. Elian is currently teaching at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, and has recently been the Associate Curator of ‘Adhocracy’, a new perspective on the open source process in design, exhibited at the 1st Istanbul Design Biennial, the New Museum NYC, and LimeWharf London. Previously he has curated and collaborated on exhibitions at La Triennale di Milano, the EXD’11 Lisbon Biennale, Stazione Futuro at the Officine Grandi Riparazioni of Torino, the Helsinki Museum of Cultures, Strelka Institute, and the Harvard GSD.
